The Matterhorn
The world's most sought-after summit.
Sample itinerary:-7 days
We rendezvous in Zermatt at our usual accommodation for the
night, the world-famous Bahnof Hotel (dortoir) followed by rock
climbing training on the Rifflehorn.
Then it's more acclimatising
on the ascent of the Spitze Flue (3260m).
To get us high we climb the Zermatt Breithorn (4165m).
After such a start we take a rest day, prepare and pack
for the Matterhorn.
Time to plan for the big day.
The big day arrives and we're off up to the Hornli Hut.
An early start, some hustle and bustle, and then it's a steady climb to the Swiss and then the Italian summits (4477m).
Time for recording the event on camera and then its off back down to the hut, and then to Zermatt where the realisation hits you hard.
As you turn and look up, you can be happy knowing you've cracked it:
The world's most sought after summit.
